Detailed description of Sunset Golf & Country Club, Regulation Golf Course
Sunset Country Club is a public, 27 hole golf facility located in Odessa, Texas. The facility has an 18-hole course, The Sunset Country Club Regulation Course and a 9-hole course, The Sunset Country Club Par 3 Course.
The Sunset Country Club golf courses opened for play in 1954.
The Regulation Course is a placement course with several trees and out-of-bounds stakes coming into play throughout the design. The 18-hole Regulation Course measures 6,665 yards from the back tees and plays to a par-72. The course rating is 69.5 and the slope rating is 112.
The Par 3 Course has holes ranging between 165 and 52 yards, and can be challenging at times. The Par-3 Course plays to a 9-hole par of 27 and maximum distance 1,096 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 27 . The course rating is 35.0 and it has a slope rating of 110.

Old clubhouse and facilities. Course is not in good shape, entire area is suffering from drought conditions. Greens are in fair shape.

I would not recommend this golf course to anyone. The owner does not play and makes no attempt to improve the condition of the course

Owners have invested a lot of money in upgrading this old (1954) and interesting course. Renovated recently, including the restaurant. Food is inexpensive and good. Driving range is not great. Practice Putting area is large and superb. Staff is friendly. Recent severe droughts have killed many trees along the fairways, and makes overall appearance look run down. Front nine is rather easy, back nine tougher. I've noticed a lot more golfers on this course in the past year.
